Course Overview

Course:

HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting (Child Care)

Course details:

1) 5 days Face to face (either classroom-based or via Zoom)
2) Written assessments

Course Duration:

Students are enrolled for 12 months.
Face to face component is 5 consecutive business days.
Class hours 9am-5pm AET.
Practical assessment activities are completed in the face to face component of the course. Written assessments are started in class and those which are not completed are completed after face to face component.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisites for enrolling in the HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting (Child Care).

Desirable:
  • Certificate III in Work Health and Safety (or previous experience equivalent to this)

However, students must:

✔ Have access to a laptop or desktop computer
✔ Possess basic to advanced computer skills
✔ Be familiar with Microsoft Word for completing assessments
✔ Have a suitable level of literacy to engage with course materials

Pathways for Further Study

Upon completion, students may choose to  enrolling in the BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety to advance their qualifications within WHS sector.

Course Work & Assessments

  • Students must complete their assessment work after the face-to-face training.
  • Having strong computer skills and WHS experience can significantly reduce the time required for assessments.
  • The course includes 5 integrated assessments, covering role-plays, project reports, scenario-based written tasks, and reviewing WHS templates.

Computer Literacy & Equipment Requirements

To successfully complete this course, students need:
✔ A computer (PC or Mac) with Microsoft Office (2007 or later for PC, 2010 or later for Mac)
✔ A stable internet connection for Zoom classes
✔ A working camera and microphone (built-in or external)
✔ The ability to create, edit, and format documents in Microsoft Word

📌 If you are not confident using Microsoft Word, we recommend seeking basic training before starting the course.

Literacy & Language Requirements

This course requires students to:
✔ Read and interpret WHS legislation and statistics
✔ Develop and maintain WHS registers and action plans
✔ Present and document information using various technologies
✔ Possess strong research, analysis, and planning skills

Certificate Issuance

Once students have successfully completed all assessment tasks and been deemed competent, they will receive an email notification. Students who are deemed competent will receive a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety BSB41419, which is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The qualification is issued by Ryan College (The RTO).
